The Theater
The Peñasco Theatre is a 75 year-old adobe theatre located in Northern New Mexico about an hour and 15 minutes north of Santa Fe. The quiet rural environment offers artists time and space to incubate and perform work in a stunning mountainous landscape. This is a non-competitive, open discipline, affordable and self directed residency.
Resident artists have access to the theatre space, and housing is directly adjacent to the theatre. Artists may perform any time during the residency, teach workshops or classes in their discipline (we cannot guarantee attendance)
Audiences can vary from 10 to 150 people depending on local event schedule and type of performance. Examples of previous residencies include solo dance pieces, large group aerial/stilt shows, multi-media presentations, bands, puppet shows, multi-company collaborations and physical theatre.
